The 1290 KTM Super Adventure is the clear benchmark in the travel enduro segment with a class-leading equipment specification that leaves other travel enduros playing catch-up. The Super Adventure’s uncompromisingly powerful KTM engine is matched by safety and electronics packages that are streets ahead of the competition, which means that sports riding meshes seamlessly with a versatile travel enduro style, making the Super Adventure the perfect ride for any journey.

The 1,301cc engine and 160 hp peak power gives the 1290 Super Adventure massive torque and strong power characteristics.

The 1290 Adventure’s ride-by-wire system electronically translates the rider’s throttle commands into throttle valve positions perfectly suited to the riding conditions.

Equipped with cruise control as standard. Switches are on the throttle grip and a display in the VDO cockpit unit, set and adjust the requested speed.

The gearbox ratios of the Super Adventure feature a longer sixth overdrive gear. This saves fuel and adds comfort for mile-munching on the freeway.

A mix of the highest quality components combined with a fully developed and reliable engine allows extremely long service intervals of 15,000 km.

RIDER ASSISTANCE: Different modes for the various assistance systems are selected using a mode switch on the left side of the handlebar. It’s simple: “up” and “down” through the menu, select the desired item with the left button, confirm it with the right! Select four damping modes: Comfort: Street: Sport: Offroad: The SCU detects specific riding situations. “Anti-Dive”, for example, keeps the bike horizontal when braking.

SUSPENSION: Ultra-lightweight, rugged tubular space frame and new semi-active WP suspension components. The innovative WP Semi-active Suspension Control Unit [SCU] continuously adapts the damping rates in real-time to optimise the chassis according to the surface and riding style.

FRAME: The trellis frame made from chrome-molybdenum stainless steel weighs only 9.8 kg, contributing to the low overall weight of just 249 kg fully fuelled.
BRAKES: The finest Brembo twin 320 mm brake discs, radially mounted, four-piston fixed callipers and a radial master cylinder. At the rear, a generous 268 mm disc with System management by Bosch’s 9ME C-ABS, together with MSC.

WHEELS: Spoked wheels – tubeless, 19-inch up front; 17-inch at the rear. Wire-spoked wheels for tubeless tires with airtight rim beds combine all the benefits of a tubeless tire (easy fitting and dynamic advantages due to no inner tube) with the stability and robustness of a wire-spoked wheel.

With so much propulsion on tap the front wheel can become very light. The sensitive WP steering damper prevents this safely.

SLIPPER CLUTCH: The slipper clutch prevents destabilising rear wheel chatter when braking sharply or decelerating; allowing the clutch to be controlled with the little finger when changing gear.

HHC (Hill Hold Control): The optional HHC prevents the motorcycle from accidentally rolling backwards. It knows if the bike stops on a slope. Release the brake and HHC automatically keeps the brakes applied. The rider can then set off without rolling backward, ensuring a smooth start.

Both the rider’s and the passenger´s comfort seats are heated, the passenger can control their own with a separate switch next to the grab handles. The height of the pilot’s section of the two-piece seat can be adjusted by 15 mm.

HEATED GRIPS: The fully equipped 1290 Super Adventure comes fitted with heated grips.

FUEL: 30 liter long range fuel tank. The new 30 litre long range fuel tank provides up to more than 500 km of exciting riding without having to worry about adventures in more desolate regions.

LED Cornering Lights: The Super Adventure has the world´s first LED cornering lights integrated into its fuel tank. On the left and right side of the tank, there are three LED segments, linked to the sensor of the MSC system. Depending on the lean angle, the KTM cornering light can use one segment or all three, always giving the rider the perfect view of where they are about to turn.
