Still on the race track, now in our shop: Our radical SuperLight tail section for the R 1200 R and RS.
Our goal with this tail section was a significant weight reduction for the uncompromisingly sporty application of the 1200s. The massive original tail places lots of weight in unfavourable places on a sporty Roadster. The success proved us right, Thilo Günther won the “Twins & Triples” class on the very first use in the Fischereihafenrennen Bremerhaven with our R 1200 R Racing and thereby pushed through against competitors on the Ducati 1299 Panigale or the KTM 1190 RC8. Thilo was impressed by the handling and the boost in performance.
Naturally, for us the design was right at the top of our to-do list too. With the carbon tail perfectly tailored to the lines of the R, the Roadster wins in every aspect. The short, high tail now also visually reflects the powerful performance of the Boxer. Additionally, it was important to us that all components in this tail section are also certifiable for the road.
The tail section consists of a modified tail frame made of high-strength aluminium, the tail fairing made of high-quality carbon, the sporty seat pad, the tail cover on the bottom as well as all necessary assembly parts and small parts. The tail second almost has a “Plug and Play” characteristic, no more extensive mechanic knowledge is required for the assembly. The delivery includes an detail set of customisation instructions.
