Rookie Brad Binder has ridden to KTM’s first premier class race win in the Czech MotoGP.
Series leader Fabio Quartararo [Yamaha] led the field into the first corner but ran wide and ceded the lead to his team-mate Franco Morbidelli. Quartararo soon found himself under pressure from KTM’s Binder, who went under him on Lap 9. South African Binder then caught and passed Franco Morbidelli on lap 13. Binder went on to win by 5.266s. A famous victory for KTM and also a first for a South African. This was only Binder’s third MotoGP start. He started with KTM in the Red Bull Rookies class before moving through the ranks and scoring himself a full Factory MotoGP ride.
