Collection: BMW Helmet Clearance Sale

Mathew arrived at Procycles BMW Sydney on the last day of our Demo Sale and managed to pick up our demonstrator S1000 R Sport at an amazing price. Mathew is a first time BMW owner and was suitably impressed when we outlined the packages and new inclusions that come with the BMW S1000 R Sport.

BMW’s entire S-series lineup has benefited from steady improvements since it was introduced in 2010. This new model blends a sharper throttle response, refined electronics and everyday usability into a naked that feels so refined that it’s just about perfect. An extra 3kW takes the power to 125kW [170hp], all more controllable through lean-sensitive traction control, which is adjusted depending on what ride mode you’ve selected and all operated through a clever 6-axis IMU.

The semi-active Marzocchi front forks and rear shock, are mated to the S1000 RR model alloy frame, but with different triple-clamps and more upright, wide tapered handlebars. Braking is taken care of by powerful Brembo M4 callipers with cornering ABS. Other improvements include a new MSR (motor slip regulation) engine-brake control, as well as a new LED twin headlight.

Murray and his mates have a tradition of all riding down to Phillip Island together to check out the annual Australian MotoGP races. This year it’s getting a bit competitive and many of his crew have already upgraded their rides through Procycles BMW.  

Murray doesn’t want to get left behind so he came in to upgrade to a BMW S1000 XR, a high-performance sport-tourer that blends superbike engine power with long-distance upright comfort.

The inline-four engine produces 170 hp at 11,000 rpm and torque of 84 lb-ft at 9,200 rpm. Below 6,000 revs, the S1000 XR is comfortable handling city streets; above that Murray will need to hang on as it transforms into an aggressive sport bike, with all the power and characteristics of its RR stablemate.

The S1000 XR features semi-active Dynamic Electronic Suspension Adjustment, that smooths out bumpy roads while remaining firm enough for sharp cornering. It’s equipped with 320 mm twin front Brembo discs and BMW’s Integral ABS Pro for stable, sharp stopping power.

The Riding Modes include Rain, Road, Dynamic, and Dynamic Pro which adjusts throttle response and suspension settings. And the electronics suite has Dynamic Traction Control via a six-axis IMU, Cruise control, Heated grips, and a seamless up/down Quickshifter. all visible on the bright 6.5-inch TFT screen display, controlled via BMW's signature wonder wheel.

Martin didn’t really need another motorcycle. But hey, he’s a BMW guy through and through. He just happened to be in our Procycles BMW Hornsby showroom when he needed a bit of retail therapy. Martin saw this S1000 RR M Sport, and he knew it was going to be the next bike to add to his collection. Who could blame him.

This high-performance superbike features advanced carbon or forged M components, aerodynamic downforce-generating winglets, and top-tier electronics. It’s inline-four ShiftCam engine delivers 210 hp at 13,500 rpm and 113 Nm of torque. Martin gets instant throttle response thanks to the quick-action throttle and the gearbox features a smooth, bidirectional quickshifter. The electronics and technology package is amazing, including a six-axis IMU supporting dynamic traction control, slide control, brake slide assist, and customizable engine braking. The suspension and brakes are up to the task with a fully adjustable chassis paired with M-branded Nissin/Brembo track-ready brakes.

And the M Sport package includes upgrades like lightweight carbon/forged wheels, adjustable M footpegs, M GPS lap trigger, and a specialized M lightweight seat.
