Thereservoiris only held in place by a metal clip; it can easily be knocked out from the fixture by accident or being knocked against. Thisprotectorprevents it from being accidentally kicked or falling out and also protects
the reservoir from unwanted removal (unscrewing the lid is made much more difficult).
